An Add Refund button is available in three places. The effect of pressing any one of these buttons is identical: It will pop up the Refund Wizard. The LinkEdge Browser App uses a wizard in order to guide you through a few initial steps.

Refund by sales receipt

Assuming that the customer has a receipt from a previous purchase.
In Step 1, choose to search by "Using the Original Sales Receipt." Press Next button.

In Step 2, use the barcode scanner on the receipt to select the correct sale. Press Next.

In Step 3, select the items that are being returned. Press Next.

At this point, you are returned to a Refund window that reflects the choices that you have just made. Press Cash, Check, or swipe the customer credit card through your reader. When the balance on the transaction is equal to $0 (meaning that you have paid back the item(s) cost plus tax, you will be given a chance to finish the transaction. Press Yes .

Refund by customer name

Assuming that you have no receipt, but you know and trust the customer.
In Step 1, choose to search "By Customer Name." Press Next.

In Step 2, select your customer from the list, or type their name into the search field. Press Next.

In Step 3, select the items that are being returned. Press Next.

At this point, you are returned to a Refund window that reflects the choices that you have just made. Return cash, check, or credit card payment to the customer as described above.

Please notice that in step 3 of this (by customer) scenario, you may be refunding items from multiple different sales transactions. Generally this is not a problem. However, there can be difficulty if the tax type is different on the different transactions. It is best to refund by receipt (scenario 1 above) whenever possible.

Skip Searching and go to the Refund Window

This is the third choice in Step 1 of the Refund Wizard. It will jump you right into a Refund Transaction window with no customer and no items specified. You can use the barcode scanner, or item Search in order to add items to the transaction. When that stage is complete, press Finish and you will be instructed to return cash as "Change Due" to the customer.

In all three scenarios here, a Refund Transaction has been created. In order to find it later, begin your search at [Home, My Business, Transactions, Refunds]. There is also a report titled Refunds.
